10 Home Projects to Tackle This Spring

In a time of quarantining and spring fever, we are all looking for things to do around our homes to spark joy. Everyone is filling their free time differently these days, whether that’s soaking in the extra quality time with their spouse or family, deep cleaning, or starting a remodel. Without further ado, we have compiled a list of 10 home projects to tackle this spring. We hope they inspire you!

1. Organize Your Kitchen & Bathroom Drawers and Cabinets

Think Marie Condo style! Old utensils you haven’t used in years? Toss ‘em! Makeup drawer a mess? Clean it out! You may have put these tasks off for years, so embrace the opportunity. Just motivate yourself to dig into one or two drawers every day or so, and soon be able to check this task off your list!

2. Consider additional storage for your living room or lower level

Finding yourself with not enough storage space for the new games you’ve purchased during this quarantine? Consider adding some built-in cabinets or shelves to your living room or entertainment area.

3. Paint that accent wall you’ve been thinking about forever

Pantone Color of the Year Navy Blue

This beautiful shade of blue is a perfect color for an accent wall! It is a color that instills calm, confidence, and connection, and according to Pantone, “highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.” How did Pantone know we needed calmness and stability in our battle with COVID-19?

4. Update your bathroom

Wallpaper is back, and it can be a great way to liven up your bathroom. Depending on the size of your bathroom, this could either be a fun DIY project or a nice opportunity to engage a professional. Contact us to start planning a full bathroom remodel!

6. Improve your landscaping

Landscapers in many states are permitted to work with clients on projects. And even if you wish to DIY, many greenhouses and garden centers are open for pickup. At the very least, plant some herbs in a pot and place them in a sunny window!

7. Treat your bare feet with a new rug

You will definitely feel the difference this home project makes in your home environment! There are great rugs available online, or you can contact our Interior Design team for professional assistance. We have lovely rugs in stock and available for immediate purchase.

8. Upgrade lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware

Looking for a high-impact yet cost-effective way to refresh your kitchen?  Update your lighting fixtures and cabinet hardware. You will need an electrician to install new lighting fixtures, but you can easily update your cabinet hardware with only a screwdriver!

9. Wash your windows & screens

All you need is a good squeegee and soapy water. We suggest Dawn dish soap for best results. As long as you’re staying home, you might as well enjoy the view through clean windows!

10. Install garage shelving or organize your current garage storage

Last but not least, Spring is usually a great time to clean out your garage. As long as you are spending more time at home, you might want to add this task to your short list. Shelving, cabinets, and other garage storage elements will help you keep this space neat and well-organized!
