Initial Goals for the Project

To create a larger, more open space for the kitchen, a wall was removed between the dining room and the kitchen. A new dining room was created in the front of the house, giving new life to an underutilized formal living room space.

This kitchen design includes double islands, a dry bar and a desk. Megan’s clients wanted an updated and timeless style, which was achieved by combining a custom Benjamin Moore color, Winds Breath, with classic red oak cabinetry.

Notable Design Details:

  • Megan creatively increased kitchen storage by dropping the upper cabinets all the way to the countertops on each side of the window. She used pocket doors so the hidden undercounter space could be more easily utilized.
  • The custom butcher block table is at the perfect height for kneading or rolling dough, and the slatted storage shelf underneath neatly stores frequently used equipment.
  • The kitchen “office” is designed for functionality and contains custom file storage to keep clutter at bay.
  • A special pantry cabinet was created for all the small appliances. This cabinet was designed so that each appliance could sit on its own shelf.
  • The unique apron front sink is made of quartz and features a nice drip rail to catch spills.
  • Each of the two kitchen islands has its own purpose: One island is for cooking, baking and prep, while the other is designed for entertaining and everyday informal family meals.

“We had a wonderful experience working with Megan on our kitchen remodel.  We spent a solid six months, (our choice) in the design phase.  Megan was patience and with us every step of the way.  She was accommodating to our schedule and willing to meet whenever worked best for us.  Megan is a great listener, very professional and picks up quickly on your desired style. Her knowledge of the details was invaluable.  We are so pleased with the end product and truly enjoyed our overall experience working with Megan and Studio M Kitchen and Bath.”
